Behind the Brand

A breezy Saturday at our home in Coffin Bay, six weeks after the sudden passing of my mother.  There I was, deep in my grief, surrounded by lush native vegetation that my mother had planted, wondering … “How can I grow from this grief?  How can I keep life on track?”

As I was soothed and comforted by the beauty of nature, a memory floated back, followed by a moment of pure inspiration and “Inspired by Nature” was born.

I remembered my mum gifting my children organic easter pyjamas – soft, comfortable and easy to wear.  She had lovingly chosen them for their organic material and environmentally friendly manufacture, always striving to ensure a toxin free environment for her family.

These pyjamas were the perfect sleepwear, treasured and worn for years, stained and washed a multitude of times.  

In that moment, I knew I could grow through my grief by building a business that would offer this gift to others.  

Many hours were spent on design, market analysis and research to find the right manufacturer.   I knew I had found the right one when I saw that one of their company values was “The environment is the highest priority”. 

I can now offer to you the perfect sleepwear for your child.

HI! I'M KIRBY

Hi, I’m Kirby Stott, founder of Inspired by Nature. 

The words on this website have not been easy for me to write, however I remember my mother’s connection with the ocean and I am encouraged to dive right in. 

I feel truly fortunate to be where I am today, leading Inspired by Nature with a heart full of gratitude and a passion for change and growth.

Born and raised on the Eyre Peninsula at the southern tip of South Australia, I've been constantly surrounded by nature's finest—lush native vegetation, awe-inspiring beaches, and pristine national parks. This environment didn't just shape my childhood, it laid the foundation for my business ethos. Crafting Quality from the Ground Up.

Growing up and into my adult years, I have been strongly influenced by my parents’ love of nature and their commitment to leaving a light footprint on the earth.  I have also been influenced by their strong work ethic and their unwavering belief in me – that I could be whoever I wanted to be and do whatever I wanted to do, if I worked hard enough at it.

As a young adult, I embarked on a career in marketing and sales, which I truly loved and in which I thrived. 

However, in 2022 my heart was broken when my mother Marion passed away suddenly at the young age of 63.  While surfing at her favourite spot, she experienced a medical episode in the water and, despite the efforts of emergency services, she was gone. 

Not long after my mum passed, the vision of Inspired by Nature SA came to me as I was surrounded by the native vegetation that she had planted.  

In this vision I could see a way to use my sales and marketing skills to create a meaningful and sustainable business that would contribute positively to the planet and also create a lasting legacy for my mum.

I am now watering the roots of change, moving forward with a passion and energy that has been fuelled by my desire to grow through grief and turn wounds into wisdom.  

About Marion

My mother, Marion, was an environmentalist who really ‘walked her talk’.  Her job was to pick and grow native seed, often in large commercial revegetation projects.  She treated the earth like gold and her commitment to her organic lifestyle will be a constant memory and inspiration to me.

She instilled in me a self-belief that is now motivating me to move forward.  

As she planted for me, I am planting for my children.

Success

For me, true success is running a business that energizes me so completely that it feels like a vocation, not a job.  A venture so fulfilling that I wake up each day excited to bring our exceptional products into the homes of families like yours.
